WHAT WE DO
Four Pillars.
One Living Culture
01
PILLAR ONE
Cultural Preservation
American Indian culture is not a relic of the past — it is a living system of language, ceremony, art, story, and relationship. The Tallbull Group creates the conditions for these traditions to be practiced, taught, and transmitted. Through our grounds, our programs, and our gatherings, we actively support ceremonial continuation, Indigenous language learning, cultural artmaking, and the passing of ancestral knowledge from elders to youth. Culture is not preserved in a book. It is preserved in practice.
02
Community Gatherings
PILLAR TWO
The powwow is one of the most sacred and celebrated gatherings in American Indian culture — a time of dance, song, prayer, and community that has continued across generations and across hardship. The Tallbull Group is built to ensure the powwow never stops. We host the Welcome Home Powwow at our traditional arbor at Tallbull Grounds — an inter-tribal gathering open to dancers, drummers, families, and all who come with respect. The drum does not stop here. We strive to bridge the gap between Native and Non-Native — All are welcome.
03
PILLAR ONE
Youth Outreach
The next generation of culture-keepers doesn’t come from textbooks — they come from experience. Tallbull Group’s youth programs bring Indigenous young people onto the land to learn, create, and connect with their heritage in real and meaningful ways. Through hands-on cultural arts sessions, elder mentorship, ceremonial participation, and storytelling gatherings at Tallbull Grounds, we give Indigenous youth a strong, unshakeable sense of identity, pride, and belonging. The work we do today with young people is the culture that will exist tomorrow.
04
Community Bridge-Building
PILLAR FOUR
Understanding is built through proximity, not distance. Tallbull Group believes that cultural gaps close when people are given the opportunity to witness, participate in, and learn from one another’s traditions. We welcome non-Indigenous visitors, educators, and community groups who come to our events with genuine respect and a desire to understand. Through educational gatherings, cultural demonstrations, and shared experience, we build bridges — not walls — between Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities across Colorado and beyond.
